Directors and assistant directors of children’s services the country over are facing an increasingly uphill battle both to manage existing (and often rising) demand and to find the efficiencies necessary to meet wider council savings targets, which are likely to become even more challenging following the election of the new government. Recognising this pressure and its ever more urgent nature, we’ve developed our RedQuadrant children’s services improvement forum for senior managers.

Built around our core methodologies master class, located in our understanding of supporting local authorities in their improvement journey,  and designed to instruct in key transformation skills such as process analysis and improvement prioritisation, the Forum offers a series of one- and two-day master classes focusing on topics specific to the successful implementation of practice and management change. Our trademark foundation course provides an introduction to key frameworks on how to identify savings in children’s services through group discussion and practice.

The module moves quickly into a simulation exercise based on the ‘front door’ of a children’s service where attendees can try out the different methodologies to improve a fictional team against a backdrop of increasing numbers of contacts and conversions to referrals. Working in teams, you will interact with different stakeholders in order to identify savings and develop an improvement plan (outline business case) - see the context in which you'll be working here. Through a blend of self-reflection, group work and theory explication, you will frame the problems inherent to working in such a complex area, identify new tactics to address these and have the opportunity to apply these within a controlled environment. 

After two days, you will be able to:

  • Apply lessons learned from existing transformation methods
  • Assess the relative merits of service transformation and process improvement methods
  • Decide upon an appropriate method to use for a particular situation
  • Carry out process mapping and analysis to determine potential benefits
  • Understand the different change management approaches that can be used
  • Use a framework to identify savings in a service 

 The cost of attending this two day master class is £590 per participant and we are offering a discount of £100 for each additional participant from the same authority.
